Emerging markets with tough terrain and harsh climates will benefit from Ordyn’s suite of base stations, gateways and client interface devices.
Ordyn Technologies, a provider of telecommunications solutions for low-ARPU, high-volume emerging markets, today announced the launch of a full range of WiMAX solutions at the WiMAX Forum Congress Asia 2008.
Designed and developed for emerging markets, Ordyn’s end-to-end wireless broadband access solutions based on the IEEE mobile WiMAX standard 802.16e include:

The new WiMAX products leverage on Ordyn’s successful integrated design and development approach to lower the cost of cutting-edge optical transport products. This enables Ordyn to penetrate low ARPU emerging markets with affordable WiMAX solutions.
"Ordyn was instrumental in significantly reducing the prices of SDH optical networking products in India which led to cheaper calls for everyone,” said R. Srinivasan (Srini), co-founder and COO of Ordyn Technologies. "We are going to do it again with WiMAX and other information transport systems."
In addition, Ordyn has created an eco-system of partners to provide a complete WIMAX network roll-out for potential customers. One of Ordyn’s partners is PT Pramindo Ikat Nusantara, the subsidiary of PT Telkom Indonesia tasked with rolling out ICT services in rural and USO (Universal Services Obligation) areas.
"WiMAX wireless broadband enables service providers to deploy an instant IP drop point for a variety of rural services that can be provisioned over rough and inaccessible terrain," said a spokesperson from PT Pramindo. "Cost of laying wired infrastructure in such terrains can be an uphill task in the light of deployment and rollout costs."
Ordyn’s Srini added that WiMAX is an excellent delivery mechanism to reach the rural and urban markets. "WiMAX will play a key role in bridging the digital divide in our region, which most of the governments are thinking hard to resolve," said Srini. "Because Ordyn’s WiMAX solutions are designed for rural environments, it also means that they will work anywhere and provide an added level of business continuity insurance in urban or more developed markets."
Ordyn is currently running WiMAX trials in Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam and has plans to start trials in India and the Middle East shortly. Ordyn expects the actual deployments to start as early as October 2008.
The company's WiMAX products will be available by the end of April 2008.
