Ordyn Technologies Launches Power-Efficient, Multi-Service Optical Multiplexer with Flexible Interfaces
Enables network operators to lower CAPEX & OPEX and expand their customer-base with multi-service support

Ordyn Technologies, a provider of telecommunications solutions for low-ARPU, high-volume emerging markets, today announced the launch of a multi-interface, power-efficient, optical access and aggregation multiplexer at CommunicAsia 2008 in Singapore.

The Ordyn-6141 is a unique product that combines the latest SDH/SONET standards into a 1U rack-mountable optical access and aggregation device that incorporates multiple options including an Add Drop Multiplexer, Terminal Multiplexer, Multi-Service Provisioning Platform (MSPP), and Regenerator. Moreover, the 6141 is capable of supporting a wide range of interfaces including E1, E3/DS3, STM-1/4/16, FE, GE, PON, SAN, ESCON, FICON and DVB-ASI. These services will be rolled out in a phased manner over the next few months.

In addition to interface flexibility, the 6141 leverages Ordyn’s successful integrated design and development approach to lower the cost of cutting-edge optical transport products. This helps service providers penetrate low-ARPU emerging markets with affordable optical networking solutions.

The flexible device can be deployed to branch off terminating points and tributary interfaces from fiber rings to customer connections using STM-1 or E1 interfaces. For large customers that require more capacity or service providers that need aggregation services, the 6141 can be upgraded to support STM-4 or STM-16. Besides service providers, the 6141 is well suited to drive private networks for industries like defense, utilities, transportation and energy.

Ordyn’s product has caught the attention of multinational equipment vendors who are looking at partnerships and customers are already signing up for trials and orders, while Ordyn’s deployment partners in emerging markets including ASEAN and SAMENA (South Asia, Middle East, North Africa), are already primed to deliver the solution.

“The 6141 is an example of Ordyn’s dedication to innovative design and development. We designed this product for use by Service Providers, railways, the military, etc. and we are confident it will be especially successful in low-ARPU markets,” said R. Srinivasan (Srini), co-founder and COO of Ordyn Technologies.

“Together with Ordyn’s full range of WIMAX wireless broadband solutions, the 6141 optical multiplexer further reduces the barriers to entry for network operators in emerging markets to expand their networks and services,” said Srini. “In doing so, our goal is to help bridge the digital divide by giving a reliable connection to the unconnected and under-connected.”

“Ordyn’s new 6141 has complete features in its interface card, and the product is a powerful solution for telecommunication customers in Indonesia,” said Mr. Udiyatno, Operations Director of PT. Jasa Telekomunikasi Utama.

Ordyn is also leveraging its eco-system of partners to provide complete network roll-outs and extensions for potential customers.

Moving forward, Ordyn plans to progressively upgrade the software on the 6141 to add support for additional Layer-2 features and functionality.

Ordyn Technologies will be at CommunicAsia 2008, booth 2K1-07, Hall 2, Singapore Expo from 17 – 20 June 2008.

About Ordyn Technologies
Ordyn Technologies is a provider of telecommunications products and solutions for service providers in emerging markets. Ordyn was incorporated in 2001 as a privately-held company headquartered out of Bangalore, India. Within seven years, Ordyn has secured more than 50% of the local market share for optical transport equipment in the telecommunications, utilities and enterprise segments.

Ordyn powered its way into a complex Indian telecom market and provided BSNL, the incumbent national carrier and largest telecom service provider in India, with an alternative value proposition of feature-rich products at an attractive cost. Having understood the niche needs of emerging markets such as India, Ordyn has developed affordable, adaptable and advanced telecommunications solutions for emerging networks.

With a vision that “everyone deserves a connection,” Ordyn’s founders came together to bring about a suite of products for low ARPU markets like India to enable service providers to grow their rural and enterprise segments.

Ordyn is the first product company from India to set up subsidiaries and create a direct regional presence in ASEAN and Middle East. In 2007, Ordyn established its regional presence through its subsidiaries in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and UAE to address the SAMENA (South Asia, Middle East, North Africa) market. Ordyn has investments from leading private equity firms.
