Ordyn Technologies, a provider of telecommunications solutions for emerging markets has announced that it will be venturing into the Indonesian market through its full range of WiMAX-based wireless telecommunication solutions.
The company will using its WiMAX solutions to bring affordable, high quality telecommunications to rural areas throughout the country.
President of PT Ordyn Techonologies Indonesia, Indrajaya Putra Januar said that data from Indonesia's Department of Communication and Information Technology shows that 64.4% of villages in Indonesia still do not have telecommunication coverage in spite of the existence of the Universal Service Obligation.
"Until now, providers have been hard pushed to extend their services to rural areas because the widespread geography, terrain, and low ARPU levels," said Januar.
In Indonesia, Ordyn aims to help bridge the digital divide and bring unconnected and under-connected communities into the knowledge economy. Given the large population, much of which is in rural areas, there are also significant opportunities for Ordyn to become a major player in Indonesia and for Indonesia to be a significant contributor to the company's business growth.
Ordyn is already the major player in India's SDH/transport market. According to Ordyn's Chief Operations Officer, R Srinivasan, they want to continue building on that success by tapping into other countries in ASEAN and the Middle East for growth opportunities. "Indonesia, which is our second largest market after India, is an important component of this growth strategy," said Srinivasan.
He adds, the Indonesian government has demonstrated a strong commitment and support for development of information technology and this is an extremely encouraging sign for Ordyn to participate in and contribute to Indonesia's wireless telecommunications market.
