The Challenge:
To provide Integrated Voice and Data Services to Texas Instruments Incorporated.
Client:
Texas Instruments Incorporated is a world leader in digital signal processing and semiconductor technologies. TI is among the top manufacturers of semiconductors worldwide and is one of the leading suppliers of chips for cellular handsets.
Client Requirement:
To provide an SDH based solution leasing 4 E1s and and 10 Mbps Ethernet from a local service provider (BSNL) for Texas Instruments' internal corporate voice and data network.
Summary of Ordyn Solution:
The solution was provided to support the requirements of provisioning and dropping E1s and 10 Mbps Ethernet using Ordyn’s STM-1 SDH Mux, the Ordyn 1203. The Ordynview 200 NMS was also provisioned at the carrier's premises to manage the services provided to Texas Instruments.
Details of the Solution:
Ordyn proposed to address the client's requirements with Ordyn’s STM-1 SDH Synchronous Multiplexer which was located at the BSNL, Indira Nagar Exchange. The STM -1 was configured with 21 E1s and one 8-port Ethernet interface. Fiber was routed through the CV Raman Nagar Exchange where an STM-1 was deployed to drop 12 E1s; the solution was also extended to drop the required E1s and Ethernet at Texas Instruments.
At the Indira Nagar Exchange:
One STM-1 SDH Mux was provided as an ADM at the Indira Nagar Exchange; this was configured with 1E1 Card and one 8-port Ethernet card. Spare E1 capacity and scalable Ethernet were provisioned to cater for the future requirements of the customer at any of the existing nodes or any new nodes.
At CV Raman Naga Exchange:
At the CV Raman Exchange fiber was routed from the Indira Nagar Exchange. In addition, one STM-1 SDH Mux was installed and configured with one E1 Card where 12 E1s were dropped; the solution was also extended to drop the required E1s and Ethernet at Texas Instruments.
At Texas Instruments Premises:
One STM-1 SDH Mux was located at the Texas Instruments premises that was configured with one E1 card, where 4 E1s were dropped from the nearest fiber routing through the Indira Nagar Exchange and a 10 Mbps ethernet was extended to TI's corporate LAN through TI's local switch. As a result, TI's need for voice and ethernet services were supplied from a local service provider that simplified TI's current and future communications requirements.
NMS:
The OrdynView 200 NMS was likewise provisioned at the Indira Nagar Exchange to support network management functions like provisioning, configuration, fault and performance management and security for the services offered to TI.
Highlights of the Solution:
The solution was based on Ordyn’s state-of-the-art SDH Multiplexer, the Ordyn 1203 which is a cost-effective, reliable, easily deployed and flexible solution capable of providing high bandwidth over fiber. With this solution, TI's voice and data services were integrated which simplified the complexity of TI's requirements. The solution provided for modular provisioning in the multiplexer which meant that additional E1s and ethernet services may be added at later stages according to the demands of the customer. As a result, the solution complied with all technical requirements providing excellent performance as per the customer’s requirement.
The Ordyn 1203 is a differentiated product - it is a simple CPE that addressed the exact requirement of the customer by providing the physical connectivity for the E1’s output using wire-wrapping (similar to in-built DDF) which enhanced the reliability of the connection. This is a carrier class product used for junction and regional telecommunication transmission networks based on the most recent standards and recommendations on SDH from the ITU-T and ETSI. The Ordyn 1203 is a second generation SDH product using state of the art technology to integrate STM-1 Add/Drop Multiplexer (ADM), Terminal Multiplexer (TM) and Regenerator (REG) functions on a single module giving VC-4, VC-3 and VC-12 connectivity.
