Venkat Rajendran
Chairman

Venkat Rajendran has been Ordyn Technologies’ chairman since December 2007. Aside from serving as chairman of Ordyn, Mr. Rajendran is also the chairman of Billionways Singapore Pte Ltd, a holding company of ventures spanning telecom, IT, biotech and retail and is also the chairman of South Indies Restaurants Pvt Ltd. a hospitality and restaurant venture. He likewise holds director positions at Acton India Biotech, a life sciences company based in Pune, India, Orizin Technologies Pvt Ltd, a startup involved in RFID based solutions based in Mysore, India and ITMS Inc., a JV between Billionways and Teamsun - a large IT reseller and SI in China.

Before founding Billionways, Mr. Rajendran was a Vice President at Flextronics International, heading Flextronics Design in Asia Pacific. Earlier in his career Mr. Rajendran was a co-founder and managing director at Deccanet Designs, a Bangalore, India based telecom technology company that was eventually acquired by Flextronics. Prior to founding Deccanet, Mr. Rajendran worked in various capacities with leading telecom R & D establishments in India. He was the head of software design at C-DOT (The Centre for Development of Telematics), the prestigious telecom R&D organization set up by the Govt. of India. He can also count himself among a handful of engineers in the world who have built a carrier class (high availability) central office switching systems from scratch, successfully delivering arguably the largest real-time embedded product designed in India. He was responsible for building the Fault Tolerance system in C-DOT’s family of central office switches. He also became part of the core team of C-DOT when Mr Sam Pitroda assembled a small group of telecom professionals in 1983 under the directive of Mr. Rajiv Gandhi, the former Indian Prime Minister, to kickstart telecom research in India. This telecom research initiative led by Mr Pitroda is widely believed to have played a major role in the telecom revolution that took place in India during the last two decades. Prior to C-DOT, Mr. Rajendran was a deputy director in the Telecom Research Centre (TRC) working on the design of telecom switching systems. Prior to TRC, he worked in LRDE in DRDO in Bangalore.

Mr. Rajendran is a graduate in Electronics and Communications Engineering from the Madras Institute of Technology, (now part of Anna University) Chennai.
